Un año más de actualizaciones de seguridad para Windows 10

Microsoft ha accedido a facilitar actualizaciones de seguridad para Windows 10 durante un año más, hasta Octubre de 2026. Según escriben en el blog de Windows Experience (en Español en Genbeta):


As we shared last October, for the first time ever, you can enroll your personal Windows 10 PC in the ESU program and receive critical and important monthly security updates for one year after support ends in October. Today, we’re introducing additional free enrollment options and the simple steps to get started.

Extended Security Updates for Windows 10:

• For individuals: An enrollment wizard will be available through notifications and in Settings, making it easy to enroll in ESU directly from your personal Windows 10 PC. Through the enrollment wizard, you’ll be able to choose from three options:
  • Use Windows Backup to sync your settings to the cloud—at no additional cost..
  • Redeem 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points—at no additional cost..
  • Pay $30 USD (local pricing may vary).

tl;dr - hay que acceder al programa ESU bien usando Windows Backup (gratis), bien pagando con Microsoft Reward points o con 30 USD.

La novedad es que puedes utilizar Windows Backup para tener las actualizaciones de forma gratuita lo cual requiere que tengas una cuenta de Microsoft y supongo que "algo" (¿contenidos de directorios del disco y configuración del sistema?) se respaldará en la nube al usarlo.

Esta gente no para de inventar maneras nuevas para sacarte dinero.

En fin, yo no voy a pagar un duro por eso. Cuando me vea obligado voy pasando a W11 y listo. Ya estoy habituado a ambos SO así que no es tanto el trauma
